Cropping and rotating images
TracNav menu
Photovault allows you to freely crop and rotate your photos. In these operations the original image file is left unaltered - Photovault just shows the image cropped as you have specified. Should you ever want to change the image again all data in the original picture is still there.
Free rotation and cropping
Start crop operation by selecting a single image and choosing "Image-Crop photo" from menu. The display changes to crop mode:
- Whole original image is displayed even if it was previously cropped
- Current crop border is displayed as black rectangle with white handles for moving it.
- A crop dialog window is displayed
Altering crop or rotation
In crop mode you can alter cropping by dragging the white handles in crop rectangle with mouse cursor. You can move the whole crop rectangle by dragging from the handle in the middle of the rectangle.
You can rotate the image by dragging from the green handle on top of crop rectangle.
The crop dialog window
While you are in crop mode a crop dialog window is visible. From this you can see the current crop settings. You can also change rotation of the photo by entering new rotation value (in degrees) into the dialog.
Saving changes
To save changes to cropping either
- Press the "Crop" button in crop dialog or
- Press Enter key while you have the image window in which you are changing cropping active.
If you want to exit cropping mode without saving new crop and rotation either press the "Cancel" button in crop dialog or press Esc key.
Rotating image in 90 degree steps
If orientation of an image is wrong it is easier and faster to use the "Rotate CW", "Rotate CCW" and "Rotate 180 deg" commands available in Image menu or or from toolbar. With these you can also rotate several images at once.
